Por otro lado\, también en contexto paliativo\, algunos de estos procedimientos han demostrado una mayor utilidad. Como ejemplo\, estudios recientes apuntan hacia la duplicación del tiempo medio de supervivencia tras la radioembolización en enfermos en progresión bajo la segunda o tercera línea de quimioterapia\, en relación a los que están solamente bajo terapéutica de soporte. \nPor ello es oportuno reevaluar cuidadosamente las indicaciones\, contraindicaciones y resultados de estos métodos y de las nuevas modalidades de radioterapia en el contexto de la metástasis hepática con origen colorrectal. \nCon ese objetivo\, la Fundación Champalimaud realizará el día 18 de noviembre de 2016 un workshop dedicado al tema\, con la presencia de especialistas de diferentes nacionalidades en las diferentes áreas relevantes en el tratamiento de las metástasis hepáticas con origen colorrectal – cirugía\, radiología intervencionista\, medicina nuclear y radioterapia. Based on the enthusiastic response of those participating\, the SPC has decided to repackage the vascular sessions into an Endovascular Programme\, which will be clearly stratified into three distinct categories: arterial interventions\, venous interventions and arterial interventions\, aortic interventions\, the latter being presented within the framework of IDEAS 2016. \nCore themes \nAnother prominent feature of the meeting will be interventional oncology\, which is rapidly gaining the recognition of other specialists\, and accruing valuable efficacy data. A special Hot Topic Symposium will examine the paradigm shift in clinical treatment of colorectal liver metastases\, and the new ESMO guidelines that have recently been published. \nOne of the fastest-growing areas of IR practice is embolisation.
